Subject:   Why should you change your air filter?
Name:   Gus
Date Posted:   Jan 12, 08 - 7:43 PM
Message:   Your air filter is your car's only line of defense in stopping airborne contaminants from getting sucked into the air induction system. The air filter stops these particles from getting into vital fuel injections areas and damaging those parts or plugging them up. The air filter can only stop so much before its filtration ability is maxed out - at which point, debris will start getting past it. A dirty or plugged air filter limits the necessary air flow needed by the engine to run properly. When this occurs, the engine will run "rich" and will use unnecessary amounts of fuel, greatly reducing your miles per gallon.
