Women's sexuality
Are you more wild and kinky sexually when you are pre-menstrual and more loving and nurturing when ovulating? Do you want to go clubbing when you are in the pre-ovulation phase but into psychic and spiritual things when you are pre-menstrual and menstrual? Are you more sociable when ovulating but want to be alone in front of the TV with a box of chocolates and a chick flick when menstrual? Do you hate mess and clean like crazy when you are pre-menstrual? Are you uncoordinated and unfocused when pre-menstrual and yet have great concentration and co-ordination skills during pre-ovulation? Being a woman is an exciting ride! Within our cycles we have huge range of experiences. We can be a sexual seductress one week and a virtuous goddess the next. We can be deeply spiritual and meditate in tune with the Universe one week, and the next be out celebrating and experiencing everything that life has to offer. Throughout the month, every aspect of ourselves changes. Our sexuality changes along with our sexual needs, sensual experiences and boundaries. Our sociability changes along with our needs within relationships and communication. Our perception of ourselves changes, bringing fluctuating self-confidence and self-esteem. So many women fight to be consistent and condemn themselves when they are not, missing out on the great experiences they can have at different times of the month. So check your diary. Book a night on the town with the girls when you are next in the pre-ovulation phase of your cycle. Go for a romantic meal for two when you are ovulating. Decide on a kinky night in when pre-menstrual and book a full day for doing nothing but nurturing yourself when menstrual.’ |

Dear Miranda, As I take pills, I bleed for only two days. Does it mean that a have a less powerful "menstruation phase"? I would like to know your opinion about pills too. Blessings, Danielle. |

Danielle Your question is a really good one and as there has been very little research into the effects of the menstrual cycle on women’s perception, I can only really answer your question from a personal point of view. From my own experience I have found that not using chemical contraception gives me a deeper, more creative and spiritual experience throughout the month. I have a range of experiences which are far more complex and contain more opportunities for self-development and personal expression than those experienced on an artificial cycle. My natural cycle also offers the gifts of stronger creative energies and spiritual insight, which is very important to me in my writing and painting. It can also give me a pretty wild ride too! At the moment I am actually running a survey on women’s cycles to gather information on how they experience their cycle whether they are on a natural cycle, have an artificial one, are without a womb, or are moving into menopause.
