On my 62 Met I am using a Solex PICT-4. I bought it at Autozone for around $120.00, since it was allready jetted for the VW bug 1500cc engine, it worked perfectly for the Met 1500cc engine.
On the plus side: It's a much better carby than that drafty old Zenith, with the slopped out butterfly shaft, and it also has an automatic choke.
On the minus side: It is not a bolt on replacement. It is about 2" shorter, and requires an adapter at the base, and also requires adapting the linkage.
Overall, I am very pleased with the performance of
the Solex carb in my car.
