I'm surprised you feel you need more power for towing, we tow a 2ton caravan and our standard TDi 200 copes admirably with that.

Here are a few random thoughts:
1. Are you sure your vehicle is running correctly, generating the full power that it is designed to make?

2. Disco's are not the fastest vehicles on the road - are you sure that your towing expectations are realistic.

The first time I towed was years ago with a 3500 SD1. When running solo, she went like a bird, but towing a horse trailor was COMPLETELY different. I first thought she was broken, but no sir, they're all like that.

3. Have you access to any other Disco's to do a comparison with yours? My wife's best pal has an auto TDi300 that I thought might be pants at towing but no, actually quite impressive.

Just as matter of interest what do you tow?

Hi

I've altered the pump to get maxiumum over fueling then also wound the fuel up till you get black soot from the exhaust then knock it back half a turn!
My range rover goes like a rocket now and leaves everything else standing, and driven carefully is still good on fuel, i can tow my comp safari racer from kent to hampshire and back at 65-70mph and use half a tank of diesel.
If in doubt go and see a landrover technition before touching pump! they should all know the best way cos those in the know use the 200tdi!
