Freelander rear window
Hi,I hope somebody can help me with a problem on freelander rear window? The rear window is pulled up and down connected to stranded wire cables and one has snapped. I contacted main dealer in Edinburgh for spares and was told that I would need to buy the complete motor to get cable at a cost in excess of £300. This cable is for all the world like a cable used on a push bike for brakes. ANYBODY KNOW SOURCE OF SPARES? please anybody carried out this repair? Thanksin advance trb

Hi. Don't know about the Freelander, but I have seen stranded wire like you describe off the roll in several diameters from bigger B&Q stores. Problem usually comes in fittings on the ends, commpression, brazed etc. My trailer uses it for the over run brake system, so if you have a local trailer supplier that may be a good place to look, and they might have a facility for sorting the ends for you as well. Good Luck. Andrew. |

My son had problem with window cable on his Rover (car) door Rover solution was to replace complete door £800 instead of window motor. So I went to local motorbike dealer, lots of cables lots of different types of fittings could be soldered or crimped on all fo £20. Hope this may help. |
