How do I Identify a Series Gear box

The gear box housing I pulled off from my series 111
has the following number.

5766530A LM22W

Another housing in my collection of junk has the following number

528237D LM22W

Do these numbers reveal if they are Series 1,2,2A or 3 ??

Any hely will be appreciated.

Best Regards

Nilhan

Re: How do I Identify a Series Gear box

Nilhan, the serris 2a and older are abit before my time but if i remeber correctly the 2a and older have the slave cylinder/clutch fork diffrent from the 3 ie external push rod with a vertical slave cylinder?

I also think the clutch plate /first motion shaft has bigger splines than the serris 3 box.

hth ALEX
