john fullerton was a gem in the rough

he taught us scienific method and inculcated in us a deep respect for the theory of evolution without ever even hinting at an intelligent design. this is what a science class in a public high school should be like. let us count our blessings for having had the real deal and having escaped the malarkey that is being masqueraded as worthy of scientific teaching.

Hi Paul. Good memory about Fullerton. I can tell you that as a geologist having looked at fossils while a student of geology, the fossil record speaks volumes for the concept of evolving organisms on this planet through the span of geologic time. Now we have a new way to talk about divine creation...intelligent design. Well, the irony of it all is that the numero uno proponent for this idea is anything but intelligent. What irony!!

Re: john fullerton was a gem in the rough

Bruce my man, do you always have to end on a note of disdain for our leader and protector, "W"? Remember, we had a “REAL SMART" (didn't know when to zip, or where to do it) in office before, and look what he did! He authorized the 'no warrant search’ of Archer Ames',(also an American citizen) house and office in 1993! (For those Dems w/perfect amnesia, which is a requirement for a Liberal these days as I just illustrated, Mr. Ames is now serving a life sentence in Federal Prison ((note: the Federal system does not have parole))after admitting to spying for the enemy).
… oh yes, the reason for my reply…
I was told by some of ‘old marble mouth’s’ (a somewhat affectionate nickname from students to whom he gave ‘Fs’.) that all the pages in the text that referred to reproduction were cut out w/ a razor blade. Is this old rumor true?

OK. George W. Bush is the most intelligent President this country has seen. His "homey" ways and his ability to speak extemporaneously so well bespeak to his elevated IQ. His leadership is clearly the epitome of the evolution of a fine group of people from which he is descended. Don..is that better!

NOT!!!

Now that's more like it! Keep an open mind - see what happens - a few facts never hurt a debate.

But I'm more interested in those rumors!! Especially the ones involving the cute females in those anticeptic biology labs... wow.

How about the pages of reproductive info meeting those razor blades?

Re: john fullerton was a gem in the rough

my textbook did have all the pages of the male and female reproductive organs intact so i cannot attest to the fact that other people's books did have the same pages intact (or that they had been surreptiously razored out by the individuals you had in mind so that they could compare the pages with the real deal if they were to have gotten so lucky). certainly democratic administrations are not without fault but the stupidity, arrogance, duplicity, psychological pathology and obvious chest-beating cowardice of the present administration is abhorrent to american democratic values and any modicum of intelligent peacekeeping efforts. as well as turning back the advances of science to the middle ages.

Re: john fullerton was a ...

You've got to be kidding! Fullerton a 'gem in the rough'? Old marble mouth could only give spelling quizzes every Friday(?) and ask us to spell the names of genus (rhymes with...) Classes (rhymes . . .), kingdoms (rhymes . . . ), and whatever (see how much I learned, or remember. Now what was I talking about?? Oh, yes-- ) Spelling them was hard enough. . . first you had to figure out what he said. I seem to recall someone, was it John Keys?, asking him to repeat a word three or four times!
I also remember that Mr Phillips class got to cut open all kinds of unfortunate animals and we got to cut open one or two all year.
The book. My recollection is tht he had a thing about 'advanced students' (I was suposed to be one for the first two or three weeks, until he figured out my competence in science, or was that in spelling?) who got a "college textook" to study further. Those were the ones that had the 'missing chapter' on sex, neatly cut out with a razor lade. Every copy--I can remember looking through all of them hoping for some enlightment (l needed that treasure map).

Re: john fullerton was a gem in the rough

definitely he had his faults but at least he didn't mix in religion with science. that was my original and only point. as if any of our teachers at that time could even have handled sex in a clear fashion whatsoever.

Re: john fullerton was a gem in the rough

Hi guys! I just read some of the additional comments about Mr. Fullerton. I remember some who called him "Marble Mouth." I did not have him as an instructor so I can't speak from first hand knowledge but I can tell you that Leonard Faul's biology class was a lot of work. We surely did not have any lectures on anything related to sexual stuff unless it had to do with how "creatures" reproduce. I kind of remember Mr. Faul's wry sense of humor as it pertained to humoring some students and Mr. Faul had a comparatively rigorous work requirement; always keeping notes and doing class work books with hand-drawn sketches of "stuff" we looked at.

Mr. Faul clearly did not bring up anything related to evolution or divine intervention as it relates to human existence.

Today, when I read what seems to be topics of conversation as to how we are and why we are I wonder if our society is in retrograde. Who knows??? I guess some people really have trouble seeing the similarities between simians and humans. That is too bad. In today's society, I think we'd be better off with a gorilla as president compared to who is living at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

Re: john fullerton was a gem in the rough

Now Bruce, there you go again! We just got a string of 11 comments going and you have to go and trash that smart as hell 900 pound gorilla that is allowing us all to sleep so soundly at night. Now what are the new contributors going to think? I guess they’ll think the same thing they thought back in ’63!

I’ve told you already… all you have to do to relieve your frustrations is to get a few more (million) Kool Aid drinkers together and rig the next election for “Lurch”. You WILL need to, because the birthrate in the red states is 4 to each one in the blue states! As I say to my son – GOOGLE IT!…

I see today that “Ole horse face” has injected a few more Kilos of Botox. Unlike Hitlery, his face is so long there is room for plenty more! H. Rotten will never make it to ‘o8, as she is “not aging well at all.”

Dumb is one thing, but as Bill will tell you, that ugly goes allllll the way to the bone!
