Where's Don Thompson when you need him?
I would have thought Don would be here with a pre-emptive comment about our port situation. Alas! He disappoints! Now, having "fired the first shot," I am guessing he'll read this and come back something Ted Kennedy, Bill or Hillary Clinton. You all surely know that talking about any of the three entities in response to my "salvo" is tantamount to talking about an entirely different subject. Take it away Don! |

Not so fast - oh dear classmate ‘guesser’ of mine! - So let’s see if I understand… You think that paying about 7 Billion dollars for ‘access’ to a port, or ports, solely for the purpose of destroying them, makes sense? Notwithstanding the fact that you could destroy them for free without buying them! Then buy cheap, after the fact! Do I have that part correct so far ? As I recall no Arab or Mid – East entity made any attempt to buy the World Trade Center before they flew airplanes into it – or did I miss the latest installment from that thieving weasel, Al Franken, (remember his own Air America is now under Federal investigation for “borrowing” over $800,000 from the Boys and Girls Clubs of New York, without the knowledge of the Directors of that non-profit charitable organization!!) what a group! I also notice with interest that Air America PAYS stations to carry their programming… the leftist view is really appealing to most people isn’t it! In reference to the highjackers that flew the airplanes into the towers… as I recall they were trained in that center of corruption known as Florida – so following the leftist template, Jeb Bush and the entire State of Florida should be punished for their deeds – as should every State that spawned the likes of ‘Machine Gun Kelley’, Al Capone, Bonnie and Clyde, et al, - and Timothy McVey, our own home grown terrorist! How about this… put Halliburton in charge of the ports – we all know how good they are at taking taxpayer money, while remaining securely under the thumb of the Feds and that demon ‘W’ !

OK. So we get money from the Arabs for operating ports. You like that don't you. Yes, we are strapped for cash. Duh!!! Why??? Now, let's say for argument purposes a thermo-nuclear device comes through any of the ports that are operated by Bush's buddies. "Booooom!" But, we did get cash for the operation. Your turn |

Okay, here's the plan: Back off and let those men who want to marry men, marry men. Allow those women who want to marry women, marry women. Allow those folks who want to abort their babies, abort their babies. In three generations, there will be no Democrats!!! I love it when a plan comes together.

I don't believe what you just said for a second, "feeling squeezed on the right." You work hard because you want to make a better life for yourself and if by some chance a percentage of your income goes to helping those less fortunate than you, think of your offering as being a mensch. Now, you could have that same or even a larger percentage of your income to paying for our young men and women going to a part of the world where we are not welcome and killing people. You could choose that if you want. That is why the United States is so great. We all can, of our own free will, make that choice. Your turn Don!!! |

Another Kool-Aid drinker... that 'you' people like so much! "I don't own a single share of stock!" filmmaker Michael Moore proudly proclaimed. He's right. He doesn't own a single share. He owns tens of thousands of shares – including nearly 2,000 shares of Boeing, nearly 1,000 of Sonoco, more than 4,000 of Best Foods, more than 3,000 of Eli Lilly, more than 8,000 of Bank One and more than 2,000 of Halliburton, the company most vilified by Moore in "Fahrenheit 9/11."

And your point would be???? Yes, Roger Moore makes money like the Republicans and yes, he is disingenous! BUT..his actions don't get people killed! Don, not all Democrats are nice people and not all Republicans are nice people. So! What else is new? The issue today is our businesses are out of control in terms of people "raping" the less fortunate and our esteemed leader is so ****ed disengaged it is remarkable to me that he's doing as well as he is. I think his approval rating is a positive number. your turnC |

Bruce, my friend... I dare you to look at your boy wonder Bill (slick willie) Clinton's poll numbers at this point in his Presidency! - Remember: a good liberal must have a very poor memory to maintain his or her beliefs!

Don! Don! Don! Good memory or no...most politicians say what they (the politicians) think the listening audience wants to hear. Even George Bush does that. But, in Bush's case, he has no memory for obvious reasons!!! Your turn |

don thompson is at home worrying that he is being taxed too heavily while brave young soldiers die for the misdirected fossil fuel invasion of iraq and the pathological maladies of the adult child of alcoholic parents who created saddam in the first place. |

Don, You missed my mistake in response to your lambasting Michael Moore. I used the name Roger Moore instead and you didn't mention it. I guess I slipped up and you missed the slip up or you are being nice. Which is it? Anyway, Roger Moore makes lots of money as well. |

OK Don. You clearly pointed out that Michael Moore owns stock in the organization(s) that he criticizes. Sooooo! The stock ownwership does not mean that he can't criticize. My guess is that when it comes to money and making money, most people have similar desires..they want to make money and have enough to make them "happy." Michael Moore's credibility has been maligned due to his appearance of being disengenuous by owning GM stock when he criticizes GM for what they did in Flint, Michigan. That's like saying you feel I am unpatriotic because I criticize our military or government when they do something I don't like. The military or government is our government and we can criticize them all we want. After all, it is government of the people, BY the people and FOR the people. And, if you as a PEOPLE don't think you are getting the FOR part, then it is within your rights to criticize the government. Please see the US Constitution! |

Hey Bruce... your're not in the military are you? AND HOW ABOUT THIS FROM YOUR PARTY... Senior Democrat on House Ethics Committee Under Investigation It is little wonder why the House Ethics Committee has been virtually out of business for a year. According to the New York Times, Rep. Daniel Mollohan, the committee’s senior Democrat, “used his powerful perch on the House Appropriations Committee to funnel $250 million into five nonprofit organizations that he set up.” Mollohan’s most ambitious effort, according to the Times, “is a glistening glass-and-steel structure with a swimming pool, sauna and spa rising in a former cow pasture in Fairmont, W.Va., thanks to $103 million of taxpayer money he garnered through special spending allocations known as earmarks.” The West Virginia Democrat is also being investigated for his personal finances. In 2000, Mollohan’s financial disclosure reports listed his assets between $179,000 and $562,000. By 2004, that amount had mushroomed to between $6 million and $12 million, including an extravagant oceanfront home in Bald Head Island, North Carolina and various other valuable properties. How can we expect the House Ethics Committee to pursue corruption investigations when key members are involved in corrupt practices themselves? Judicial Watch has been outspoken in its criticism of the House Ethics Committee, and will continue to be as long as members refuse to do their job. As I told The Washington Post recently, there is no ethics enforcement in Washington and it’s inexcusable. (Click here to read the article.) Judicial Watch is also a leading voice on the Congressional Ethics Coalition, a group of government watchdog organizations committed to repairing the congressional ethics process. This give new meaning to the 'Pelosi' phrase - Culture of Corruption! What do you say to that!! |

I am not arguing there is or isn't a culture of corruption in Washington and parts elsewhere. What I am saying is..."THIS administration (meaning GWB and Co.) are bad. That's all I am saying. Now, you are offering a case where some politician is using his/her political influence for personal gain. Don? What do you think all politicians these days do?? That type or style of conduct is on both sides of the isle. If you are arguing the dollar amount..then you haven't a chance when you compare the amount of money this guy "lasso'd" versus the amount of money that Buch and Co. are spending to "futz" around in Iraq and maybe into Iran. Keep in mind Don, our budget had a surplus when Bush took office and now we are in debt to the tune of trillions (not billions) of dollars. |

US Treasury Sets New 1-Day Tax Receipt Record Of $85.8 Billion Tuesday September 19th, 2006 / 0h04 WASHINGTON -(Dow Jones)- The U.S. government recorded record-high overall and corporate tax receipts on Sept. 15, which was a quarterly deadline for tax payments, the Treasury said Monday. Total tax receipts were $85.8 billion on Friday, compared with the previous one-day record of $71 billion on Sept. 15 of last year, the Treasury said. Within the overall figure, corporate tax receipts Friday were $71.8 billion, up from $63 billion in September of last year. Treasury Undersecretary for Domestic Finance Randal Quarles said Friday's numbers provided a "continuing demonstration of the strength of the U.S. economy." "In fact, Friday's gross receipts were the largest in a single day in the nation's history - 20% higher than receipts on the same quarterly tax payment date last year," Quarles said in a statement. -By Benton Ives-Halperin, Dow Jones Newswires; 202-862-9255; Benton.Ives-Halperin@dowjones.com Tuesday September 19th, 2006 So I guess tax cuts are just no good, huh?... As I remember, the U.S. Treasury belongs to ALL the people and ALL the people benefit! No? |

Your assertion that taxes are up or the amount of money brought in is high is correct. So what? We need more of our money to stay at home. Let's see, we are spending billions per day in Iraq..duh!!! |
