WVS 10k course
Whats the general discription of the course? Is it flat, hilly, rolling? Just thinking about pacing. |

Jesse, I don't think you are familiar with Kirby Park, but take a look of the picture of John Evangelista in the pictures of Sundays run, see that hill he is running, well that is it. |

How much money will this race cost? I couldn't find the price on here or on their web-site . . . unless I'm just being unobservant, which could very well be the case . . . |

I ran about 3 miles of the course this morning, and I love the water features on the Olmstead Trail. If it rains Sat. night as predicted, there's gonna be some fun splishin' 'n a splashin' on the out 'n back. YEEHAH! |

The course goes through water? I certainly hope not. |

The water helps get the mud off your shoes. |

I was under the impression that it was a road race. |

It is advertised as a foot race, its run in Kirby Park. The only discription posted is -"The start and finish of the run is in the meadow area in Kirby Park, Wilkes-Barre, PA. The course is mostly flat." Part of it runs on paved paths in park and the levee. Part of it goes through a trail on river side of the levee. There is NO AUTOMOBILE traffic and no roads. The trail has been used for other races in the past, is used for High School Cross Country and also for the Cliff Robbins Insvitational. Don't let the word mud scare you. Its really not that bad or the Striders would not have included it. This section is not that long and really is a nice touch. It has nice shade trees, you won't be disappointed. However I am, I missing out a great race, I have to work.

It's a park. Most of it will be on the top of the levee which is basically a blacktop sidewalk. Most of the paths on the land side of the levee are also blacktop. On the water side of the levee, you have mostly dirt roads, which are generally dry but could have big puddles if it rains. They may also route you through grassy areas of the part. |

Yeah, Olmstead trail is great to run on....minus the boulders. |

Mike is right...this is a "foot" race, not necessarily a "road" race. We will be on pavement, dirt, and grass. The grass will be the slowest part of the course. The dirt trail will have some large puddles but you should be able to round around them. You should be able to stay dry. The only hills will be running up onto the levee. Keep in mind that we intend to have a new course next year after the construction is completed on the Wilkes-Barre side of the river. |

I love when I run a "first inaugural" race with one course, see what time I can do, then the course changes the next year. |

But, Plush, this was a "first annual", not a "first inaugural". The later is a repetitive redundancy again as opposed to the first time something's being done again!. I want to enter something with a shirt saying "last inaugural" so my PR can stand forever. |
