Property being vandalised around the Park between Norman Drive / Kiln Close / The Paddocks / Swansga

I am concerned at the level of vandalism that appears to be going on in Old Catton.

There are youths that have a intent on just damaging things. I see signs with Graffiti on, damaged road signs, and only last night the walkway from Norman Drive through the park to Sommerfield had vandalism to a car and a fence was kicked in. This causes distress and costs to the owners of the property.

I have lived in Old Catton for many years and the problem seems to be getting worse.

I would be interested in peoples stories or vandalism to property in Old Catton and the police response or ideas to combat it.

Many thanks

I agree that there is a lot more damage to property. I am aware bus shelters are often being damaged and i am seeing grafetti not being removed anymore.

Old Catton is not the place it used to be

Hello to you Old Catton residents,
Wouldn't it be nice if at least one of our Parish councillors or local police showed some interest in this issue (and others raised in this forum), by posting a comment...!
What conclusions are we to draw from the lack of comment ?

Hi all! Great to see this sharing of minds occuring and I agree that we need feedback from those in a position to comment. I have contacted the local Councillor and the Clerk to the Parish Council to see if they would like to participate in these discussions. We shall see if they do.
In the meantime, I would be interested to hear if anyone has attended any Parish Council meetings, or contacted the PC, to raise these concerns. It's possible they may not be aware. Or have you already tried that??

Hello Residents!

I am aware of problems around the Paddocks and carry regular patrols of the area. Up until now I was not aware of problems in Norman Drive, Kiln Close and Swansgate, how ever, now that I am I will try to patrol these areas as and when I can.

Many Thanks

Hi again all. I found out yesterday that Norfolk Constabulary's "Safer Neighbourhood Team" are holding an open surgery at Somerfields supermarket between 10am and 2pm on Saturday 5th April. Might be worth a visit to make your concerns known..??

It is a shame that the Village is suffering vandalism at present and this costs the Council money to repair things, like the seats at the War Memorial and the playbus at Lavare Park.

Please, will residents always contact the Police when they know of incidents of vandalism? As PCSO Ben Bell has pointed out he needs to know where and when incidents occur if he is to take any action.
