Flat-bottom Gunther's cones

Are either (or both) of those flat-bottom Am. Can Co. Gunther's beer (like in USBC) cones pre-WW2? I often hear/read they are. So does that mean their corresponding flat tops are also pre-WW2? I found one of each almost 30 years ago and recently rediscovered them with some other forgotten cans in my parents' attic. I'm trying to clean them in acid again to hopefully display at least one of them. As usual, any info is greatly appreciated. John

Re: Flat-bottom Gunther's cones

Hi John,
Yes, all three (there's an ale also) are prewar with matching
flats. After the war, the cones never came back in Gunther but
the flats did, with only minor changes.

bit in outdoor condition but few and far between ongrade. The ale
is just flat-out rare in any condition. Neat cans- check out how deep
the cone sits in the top rim. Kind of odd. Post a pic when you're
done cleaning!

Matt, are you sure? I have found Schmidt's ads for the flat bottom cones for 1950.

Re: Re: Flat-bottom Gunther's cones

Right- Esslinger, Schmidt, and probably others used these packages
after the war up into the non-IRTP days but Gunther did not. So far
as the case or so of these I've seen.

Re: Flat-bottom Gunther's cones

thanks. I never knew American can produced them for so long.
