My memories of Ralfi...

Growing up in the barrios of East Los Angeles, I was raised listening to Ralfi Pagan. As a kid I would sit at my bedroom door while my parents would be partying, listening to Ralfi's Con Amor album. Those were some of my favorite times. As a teen I had forgotten those songs but was one day reminded. So I went out to the local indoor swapmeet to look for the CD and found it. Ever since that day I have been searching for every song of Ralfi's I could find. I have now collected many but not all. So the search continues. I play his music all the time and have recently caught my teenage daughter add his songs to her Ipod. I was so proud. I recently watched the PBS broadcast Latin Music USA where they featured many artists on the Fania lable as well as the Fania All Stars but there was no mention of Ralfi Pagan. I find that to be so tragic. I proudly share Ralfi's music with all who will listen in hopes of keeping his memory alive. Anyway, Thank You for creating a website dedicated to Ralfi & his music. He deserves his place in musical history.

My memories of Ralfi...

I've been a huge fan of Ralphie Pagan since I dicovered him when I was 14 years old--1977. His songs can still bring a tear to my eye or a smile to my face, depending on the memory I associate with a particular song. What a singer..and what a loss. I am curious to find out more of his passing at such a young age. Yes, I have collected almost all of his albums-he was a true musical treasure.

Re: My memories of Ralfi...

I didnt know that Ralfi was filling in for Joe Batann when he was killed in columbia. The way it is written on the website details of his murder it seems that Ralfi was not the target perhaps the wrong place at the wrong time filling in do you think or have any thoughts on this. Also, Joe Batann disappeared for what 20 years and was believed to be dead. No one heard or saw of him then comes back serving the lord. Ralfi was murdered but why?

Thank you

Re: My memories of Ralfi...

Ralphi Pagan was one of my all time favorites, and it is hard to pick out a favorite. I had never heard the story about his death. I am also LOVE Joe Bataan, and just noticed there is a website for him!

**I would like to hear from anyone else interested in both of these artist music.

Re: My memories of Ralfi...

Yes Ralfi's death is a very sad situation. Unfortunately we will never really know what happened the night he was murdered. It's been so long ago and those who know or were involve are not likely to start talking now, but maybe for the right price. I've been hearing that a movie about Ralfi's story is being talked about. Whether this is true, I really do not know. If it is true i'm sure the Cacaroaches will start coming out trying to get their's. This, I guess would not be all bad for maybe the real story will finally be told. Thank you for your appreciation of Ralfi's music. We lost such a great Singer with so much soul, good Lord there will never be another. Rest in Heaven Ralfi and know you are loved still here on Earth. Always.
