The new moon was actually sighted in Jerusalem at 6:59 on September 7th.
It is celebrated for two days, then there are 7 more days of Awe and then Yom Kippur.

According to Jar of Clay on YT today is only the first day of RH since the moon was only sighted yesterday. But if nothing happens tomorrow it's cool. His timing.
