Re: 6th August Summer Mulligatawny

.... ledgend also has it that one year I had a running shoe sucked off in the mud ... never to be seen again.....

No. The second bit's not true. But it's still a bloody good, (but tough) 7 miler. Hopefully see you there

Re: 6th August Summer Mulligatawny

Jane,

I have added a Mulligatawny map to the flikr photos on the photo gallery part of the web site. (Click on 'view this photo on flikr' to see the full map)

The full route is 7 miles.

The first part is out-and-back and then follow the route anti-clockwise.

The Icknield Way track cuts diagonally through this area (green diamonds on the map) If you want a shorter version run the course to Deacon Hill and continue to the head of the valley. At this point you can cut out the loop down to the Hitchin Road.

On a summer evening this is a fantastic route, if you are unfamiliar with the stretch between the top of Deacon Hill and the head of the valley it is spectacular.

Soup is optional. Hills are non-negotiable.

Re: 6th August Summer Mulligatawny

i would like to run and share food.

Re: 6th August Summer Mulligatawny

Yes, a great run; I'll also bring food and run with you, Paul.

Re: 6th August Summer Mulligatawny

In the diary, hope to see you there.

Re: 6th August Summer Mulligatawny

Plan to be there. One of the highlights of the year. Hope to do the full course running as far up the hills as I can. Will bring food to share.

Re: 6th August Summer Mulligatawny

Hoping to attempt the full Monty again this year - third time lucky I hope, as the first year I got lost, then last year I was too injured to do it!

Happy to bring food to share

Re: 6th August Summer Mulligatawny

Hopefully I will be there and not try and get lost as I did with others before. Ian

Re: 6th August Summer Mulligatawny

Yes please, I would like to join the fun.

Re: 6th August Summer Mulligatawny

I'll be there

Re: 6th August Summer Mulligatawny

I'm hoping to do this one too, it was absolutely glorious last year.

Re: 6th August Summer Mulligatawny

I have a note in my diary.

Paul B (or indeed anyone else) would you like a lift?

Many Thanks,

Gavin

Re: 6th August Summer Mulligatawny

Sue and I would like to run and share food...........assuming I don't get too lost!

Re: 6th August Summer Mulligatawny

I'll be along, probably will do the 6 mile version, cutting out the loop down to the B656

Re: 6th August Summer Mulligatawny

I'd like to join in

Re: 6th August Summer Mulligatawny

I'd love to do this if anyone my speed is doing it too...

Re: 6th August Summer Mulligatawny

Sounds hard... I'm in :-) Can bake brownies!

Gavin/Paul, a lift sounds good. Meet at Leisure Centre?

Re: 6th August Summer Mulligatawny

Hi Marion,

I think 6.15 at the leisure centre would work. I've done the Mulligatawny before but not at this time of day so don't know what the traffic is like.

Have not heard back from Paul B or Paul F yet so other seats in car are available to anyone who wants them.

Yes, it is a reasonably tough course. I too lost a trainer along the way.

Many Thanks,

Gavin

Re: 6th August Summer Mulligatawny

And some photos from the original Mulligatawny Mud Challenge (I think it's the first one, it might be the second but I can't really remember.)

Re: 6th August Summer Mulligatawny

yes please for a lift.
see you at Leisure centre. I know the way.
Looking forward to running this again.

Re: 6th August Summer Mulligatawny

I'm going to come along, too. I've never ran it before.

Re: 6th August Summer Mulligatawny

I remember doing this last Christmas Eve and am still thankful that I didn't spend Christmas in hospital given the amount of times I fell over, entirely due to my unsuitable footwear on the day.

Will try and make it, I would imagine is so much nicer in the Summer.

Re: 6th August Summer Mulligatawny

Andrew and I would like to negotiate the non-negotiable hills ....and scoff our faces afterwards (will bring a savoury dish)

Petra

Re: 6th August Summer Mulligatawny

Re: 6th August Summer Mulligatawny

It'll be fun if the weather carries on like this...

Re: 6th August Summer Mulligatawny

will come along and bring something.

Re: 6th August Summer Mulligatawny

It is supposed to be fine and dry tomorrow, tho I think off road shoes
probably best for the downhill track leading to Deacon Hill, It gets very
churned up by mountain bikes!

Re: 6th August Summer Mulligatawny

I am planning on coming along tonight, with trail shoes, quiche and cakes. See you later.
