The weather forecast was grim. The view from the window was grim. Nonetheless I headed down to my old haunt St.Albans and my old school for the Fred Hughes 10miler HQ. First time I had run this race let alone a 10miler.
It was a glorious 1degree Celsius and 7 brave squirrels huddled around the start line in the driving snow. The course was undulating which meant there were loads of hills that no one mentioned. Nonetheless it was a great race with 759 taking part. I finished in 1:17:14 which I was pleased with and will be back again next year.
Maybe this time with my skis.
Snowy, lots of puddles, cold hilly
I glided around in a PB of 1:09:40 which I was well pleased with
I enjoyed my run today but it was a touch chilly...
I think lots of the route was the old at albans mwl course so a touch hilly.

Loved running in the snow this morning. It was never going to be the fastest race for me, but sooooo good to be racing again 🌨🏃🏼♀️ Well done everyone who raced 😊
It was so cold and snowy by the end that my post race cup of water had snow round the rim and floating in it...
What a race - thanks especially to squirrels Caroline and Lindsay for being car buddies 🚗
So proud of my fellow snowy squirrels taking on the 10 miles where many stayed at home! I managed a new 10 mile PB of 1:23:36, loved running in the snow, and the marshalls with drums and tambourines were fantastic! ❄️
Thanks for all the 'colour' from the race guys, if the press report makes it in in one piece you might be able to play - 'Spot my quote'. Making my job easier and well done for braving the snow in the first place.
Well done, all. Some great NHRR spirit on display there!
Well done Ruth, the report and photo made it into the comet...must have been colourful enough this week!
