The event is called Rifle Run, and it's based on an Army training exercise called a march and shoot. It is the first public event of its kind and scale to take place in the UK (to the best of our knowledge!).
Taking place on the 18th March 2018, the event combines a timed 10km cross-country run with three different shooting challenges (using air-rifles, standing and prone, and a shotgun). However there is a twist - for every shot missed there is a 250m running penalty. Miss all your shots and you’ll run 15km in total!
It’s taking place at EJ Churchill Shooting Ground, and we’re working with both EJ Churchill and British Shooting to put the event on.
It is the first year of the event, and so I’d really appreciate it if you could send on the details to your membership if you think appropriate. There is a leaflet for the event here, or you can find more information at www.soldierscharity.org/riflerun
