Today Lucy and I ventured to Stamford for the St. Valentines 30k. It was the 25th year of the event organised by Stamford Striders.
We ran through sunshine, wind and hail, spurred on by funny sayings on the k markers, amusing marshalls and jelly babies. The course was undulating (read really hilly), scenic and provided no protectiong from the wind! We finished strong, overtaking 12 people on the final lap round the field, in 3:16:48. Upon finishing we were rewarded with a lovely long sleeve top, a medal, love hearts and a chocolate heart as we ran as a ‘Valentines pair’.
Highly recommended race, but definitely not for the faint hearted!
Well done, like the sound of amusing sayings to motivate you on mile markers:) We were also out in the sleet at Fen Drayton Lakes and are so impressed that you were running in that wind as we struggled to walk in to the headwind!
