Does anyone remember a learned tome about the ability
or not of penguins to fly?
This published in The Gan magazine around 1972/73.
It centered around the fact that penguins could fly, providing that they could climb high enough - no problem off an iceberg. Flight achieved, they would fly until exhausted. Sighting their first landfall (Adu Atoll) they landed. Once recovered from their flight they had to climb the highest thing available which were, of course, the palm trees. Clinging desperately in an attempt to climb to the top, they could be found dotted around the vicinity of the Officers' Mess. This, of course, was the amusing bit, as the 'penguins' were usually found at the time of a Dining-In Night!
