This is a subject near and dear to me because of the personal impact it's had on me and others I know. It seems like most people I know have admitted to seeing porn, but what's scary about that, is that porn is just as addictive or more so than some drugs. Porn is easier to get a hold of now than drugs, it just takes a few clicks of the mouse and you're there. Porn dehumanizes both those who are involved in the filming, and those who watch it. And from what I've read, porn is our (America's) number 1 import! It leads to sexual sin and acting out, all while the person is trying to replicate the high they experienced while watching it.

If it were up to me, I would put the porn crisis/addition right up there under abortion. I was crying in prayer tonight to God for Him to bring it to an end. I think He will, but it won't be easy or quick because we all know things are going to be worse before they get better. In fact, the pervasiveness of porn is, I think, is a sign of the times. It's like a weed, infecting nearly every home, and it definitely has its grips on our society as a whole. I think it won't be until Jesus returns, and the Tribulation brings people to their knees, where they will have to choose between life or death, that the porn industry will be brought to their knees as well.

Will you pray with Him that God moves anyway? That he saves those that are involved in porn, and helps free those that watch it. I personally wish it could be wiped out overnight, but that would come about only by a true miracle. I'm no politician, but I wonder if it would be possible to tax porn studios up the wazoo. I'm sure that would make them tank!

I will definitely pray in agreement with you on this! May all who are dealing with this issue know Christ and the freedom that comes with knowing him!

No need to worry about the porn industry. When tribulation begins,when everyone is fighting for his or her survival,when food and water becomes the scarce commodities, when freedom is limited,when they have to learn how to survive the nuclear war and the wrath from God,the least thing they will desire is watching porn.

Have you heard of the Pink Cross Foundation? Shelley Lubben, believer and x-porn star is in charge. I don't see an end to this scourge on humanity until ?... But her organization is doing a wonderful work to help porn stars and addicts. I have 2 boys, I wish I could keep them from this, it is a painful reality in too many homes.

Personal testimony to add to this post and give food for thought to any reading this.
Years ago as a teenage boy I was curious and had access to some magazines it never went any further than this but when I got born again at about 20 I realized that this was not a godly activity to participate in and lit a big bonfire and burned my very small collection up.

Fast forward another 10-15 years. I never had another nasty magazine but what a married couple does is OK right? My wife and I were young and playing around with a Polaroid camera thinking wouldn't it be fun to look back at ourselves as young folk when we were old. The photos were never public and this was before the digital age when things were much easier to keep private.

We kept these photos for several years until I hit my late 30s then I got to thinking- what if my wife and I were in a car wreck? Would I want my children finding these photos? At the time I was pastoring a congregation and I thought- what happens when I get raptures? Would I want anyone left behind to come into my home and find these photos?

Another fire was lit at this time and this was the end of these photos and any experience I had with pornography even within the sanctity and confines of marriage.

The moral of the story folks is we are going home one day, our witness will continue even after we are gone- and for those left behind your witness will be much stronger if they find only your Bible, not your Bible and a playboy or some illicit photo.
Think about what you are leaving behind.

Porn also creates unrealistic images of what men and women really look like where anyone that is average is not considered and anyone above average is considered the norm and so it creates unrealistic expectations of others in real life. And yes, I too have heard it is the number one industry in our nation.

Porn is definitely a pernicious stronghold for many. The marriage bed being undefiled, is then "holy ground" as far as God is concerned. Sadly though this gift of marital relations has too often been short circuited by both husbands and wives. Men who were not satisfied with monogamy, and women who ignored and minimized this gift have opened the door to adultery, pornography, and infidelity.

Sadly, having once tasted "forbidden fruit" just as like Eve, the road back to marriage holiness, is a difficult one. If I may draw an analogy, I believe that sexual relations is akin to prayer life. I have maintained this idea for years, also believing sexual relations to be physical, emotional and spiritual in nature. Just as we are to love God with our whole being, this also holds true in marriage.

The institution of marriage, as I have taught many times, is an spiritual exercise in which we learn many spiritual lessons. Availability and vulnerability in particular. This is especially true in the marriage bed as well. And if I'm right in that sexual relations are physical, emotional and spiritual in nature, affecting the whole being, then as we learn and share intimacy with one another, we can use this type and shadow as we grow in our intimacy with the Lord.

There is no fine line between Idolatry and Adultery. One we commit against God, the other is committed against our life partner, both of whom we have entered into a binding covenant with.

The enemy doesn't care whether he gets us to commit adultery or idolatry, either way, we've sinned against someone we love. Just my thoughts on the matter, what say you.

I agree with your synopsis on sexual relations and their importance within marriage. God made this area to be good and marriage a picture of Christ and the church.

R.N's story reminds me of the picture I saw. It's a Medic Alert bracelet that gives instructions if the person wearing it is unconscious and has a pre-existing medical condition. This particular message read "in case of medical emergency please erase my internet browser history".

I think too many of us have had that pre-existing condition called sin.

I was thinking back on this subject today. I did look into the Pink Cross Foundation and XXXchurch and hope to work with them one day. I am going to open up a bit and say that 7 years ago, I was asked to be part of a porn video. I initially said yes, but I was a Christian and ended up bailing out, but not until after the studio had already paid and booked for everything. What I'm saying is, they were out all the money and I know it was a blow to them financially. I want to pray specifically that these "performers," would start listening to God, and bailing out of the videos they are scheduled to "star" in. This is the only way I can see, besides a Soddom and Gamorrah type destruction, that the industry would self implode. The Pink Cross foundation stated that the porn industry has shut down every once in a while because of HIV scares. I pray that the stars will change their minds, come back to God, and loose the porn industry so much money, it goes bankrupt and never rises again. I still think this probably won't happen until the Trib brings the world to it's knees, but God can still do a work.
