Would you guys mind praying for me? I have had a sinus infection for four months now and it won't respond to antibiotics (I am finishing my third round of them right now). I have tried everything herbal and all the meds my doctor has prescribed and nothing is working.

I've been in constant pain and discomfort and it's making me pretty weary........and worried.

Ask your doctor about getting some Allegra-D. You might also check into getting some colloidal silver from your local health food store (GNC).

Thank you, TN Dove. I use the Neti pot every day, plus saline spray, plus cortizone spray, plus steam. I don't have stuffiness anymore, really, just pain and pressure still, especially when I sing or talk (the vibration makes it worse). Ever experience that?

Lifting you up in prayer !

The Neti pot, as TN Dove suggested works great. It clears out bacteria and will relieve congestion. The pot usually comes with prepackaged salt prep that you use in the pot.

Another thing that helps is Tomato Tea:

2 cups V-8 juice
2-3 cloves crushed garlic
2 TBS lemon juice
hot sauce (the more the better, as much as you can stand)
Heat, sip slowly, and reheat so the tea is always hot.

Be patient with both remedies. They take a little time as they open up the sinus and release infection and bacteria.

The "D" in Allegra D is just sudafed, is it not? I tried the Mucinex D and it worked, but then it all would come back after it wore off.

Sounds like you and I are in the same boat. Man, same age, same birthdays around the same time, and same noses to boot! LOL! I sing on a worship team at my church and it really hurts to sing...

Kama, This morning when I was praying for you, the Lord reminded me of oil of oregano extract which is powerful anitbacterial, antiviral, and antifungal~ it's *very* effective and definitely worth having around the house with kids, anyway! Maybe you could give it a try~ my husband bought ours from amazon.

In the meantime, I know I'm always on about juicing raw fruit and veggies but of everything I ever tried myself this is most effective and sustainable (by which I mean it's inexpensive enough to be a long-term commitment): here's a link. Kama - I will pray the Lord will heal you of your sinus infection! Your on going sinus infection reminded me of my own experience with a year long sinus infection - it turned out that I had reflux! I never had heartburn, gas or stomach upset so I thought my doctor was crazy when he told me my problem with my sinus infection was reflux! Turns out that when I was sleeping the acid from my stomach was going up my throat and into my sinuses and the acid made them raw and infected!!! Once my doctor placed me on reflux meds my sinus infection (which lasted almost a year!!!) was cleared up within a week or so!! Now most doctors won't agree to this (my doctor was an ear, nose and throat specialist) so just tell them you think you may be having reflux and could they give you something for it - hope this info sheds some light into the situation! Melanie, yes, I have tried the oil of oregano. Right now I can't take any herbs with the antibiotic that I am on, but I will try it again once I am off of it.

Ms. Victor, I agree that sinus problems sure can be reflux! But my infection/pain is only on one side. I wear one contact in my left eye and I believe that is where the infection originated (from the tear duct). It's just very persistant!

Father, the troubles of Kama's heart are enlarged because of this stubborn infection. Lord, in Jesus Name bring Kama out of this distress, once and for all and for good. Lord, look upon this infection that is afflicting Kama, heal her Lord, and she will be healed.

I went thru a bout of sinusitis several yrs ago, it took 3 courses of antibiotics to help. My prayers are with you, too!
If you're not better soon, you should see an "ENT Dr "(specialist, ears, nose throat doctor). Keep us posted.

Did you see marked improvement after the third antibiotic or did it take a few days after finishing it that things got better? I only have three days of this antibiotic (my 3rd) and I have only seen slight improvement.

Sandy has good advice. One time I had such a sinus infection while I was raising my two girls--very young then. I had to use an elevator to get to the office. I got so dizzy I had to sit down on the elevator floor and literally crawled out on arrival. He lanced the sinus cavities and drained all the infection he could there at the office with my two little ones at my side as a nurse distracted them.

Then my head was so vacant all at once that again I sat on the elevator floor and crawled out to leave when I had to exit and go down two floors. I had no choice. I couldn't stand up then. Was very --well--"empty-headed" at the point. Ha! It was shock at that point! I called my husband and said, "Come and get us. There's no way I can drive home." By then was nauseated, too.

This isn't intended to scare you. The point is that was what I needed to do to get control of this sinus infection (both sides!) No breathing was going on the condition I was in. New antibiotics cleaned me up and I was able to return the next day with my husband to retrieve the car. By then I could drive again. After such a long time of this going on--it's got the upper hand. Nip it in the bud Monday!

Sometimes it takes drastic measures. Anyway when you see the ENT, ___take someone with you ___in case you can't drive home afterwards--just in case. I never expected what I encountered and wish I'd known ahead, especially with two little ones with me. (Luckily they thought Mommy was being silly and playing a game.) I think a few groans convinced them I wasn't playing. They were so good and even helpful. They patiently waited for dad to come to our rescue. We had quite a wait as I recall. Must have been those angels keeping it all together because I sure wasn't! They were quite impressed that the car was left behind in the parking lot. Made sure they went too to get it the next day.

As awful as lancing sounds--it wasn't that bad. It was a relief. It was the side effects that was more of a problem. Once I got home I felt better. Just a lot of blowing to finish the job. Ha! And I've never had a repeat like that again. Praise the Lord.


I've had sinus infections but never to the point of being impacted as I was then.

If I hadn't gotten thoroughly cleaned out I believe I'd just have gone from one sinus infection to another--never really getting to the root of the problem.

Thanks for all the good suggestions everyone. I believe we've probably all learned something new here to try the "next time", but pray we'll soon leave these problems behind. NO MORE ALLergies!!! Sinus infections!!!

My grandson suffers, too. We visualize asking Jesus to hold hands with us as we run freely through a field of grass and flowers without paying for it later. Ha! We'll be celebrating. Come join us for a Rita field day with our Lord as guest of honor! Surely it must be located nearby the strawberry patch we've discussed previously. It shouldn't be too hard to find. Just listen for laughter with glee. That will be us!
