Last (American Idol) song before Pentecost - HALLELUJAH

(the words sung by Lee DeWyze)

"Hallelujah"

I heard there was a secret chord
David played, and it pleased the Lord
But you don't really care for music, do ya'?
Well, it goes like this
The fourth, the fifth
The minor fall, the major lift
The baffled king composing Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah

Baby I've been here before
I've seen this room and I've walked this floor
I used to live alone before I knew ya'.
Well, I've seen your flag on the marble arch
Love is not a victory march
It's a cold and it's a broken Hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

Last night on American Idol, with only 3 contestants left, they let them
each sing one song of their own choice and one song picked by the
judges - 2 songs by each contestant, 6 total songs. The VERY LAST
SONG of the night happened to be chosen by Simon for Lee. It was
about as HIGH a moment as possible. A song picked by Simon,
which gets possibly the very best rating from the judges EVER!!!

And, the name of the song was HALLELUJAH!!!

The LAST American Idol song prior to Pentecost!!!!!!!!!!!

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm......................

TOTAL LEONARD COHEN LYRICS

"Hallelujah"

Now I've heard there was a secret chord
That David played, and it pleased the Lord
But you don't really care for music, do you?
It goes like this
The fourth, the fifth
The minor fall, the major lift
The baffled king composing Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah

Your faith was strong but you needed proof
You saw her bathing on the roof
Her beauty and the moonlight overthrew you
She tied you
To a kitchen chair
She broke your throne, and she cut your hair
And from your lips she drew the Hallelujah

Baby I have been here before
I know this room, I've walked this floor
I used to live alone before I knew you.
I've seen your flag on the marble arch
Love is not a victory march
It's a cold and it's a broken Hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

There was a time you let me know
What's really going on below
But now you never show it to me, do you?
And remember when I moved in you
The holy dove was moving too
And every breath we drew was Hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

You say I took the name in vain
I don't even know the name
But if I did, well really, what's it to you?
There's a blaze of light
In every word
It doesn't matter which you heard
The holy or the broken Hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

I did my best, it wasn't much
I couldn't feel, so I tried to touch
I've told the truth, I didn't come to fool you
And even though
It all went wrong
I'll stand before the Lord of Song
With nothing on my tongue but Hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah

Re: Last (American Idol) song before Pentecost - HALLELUJAH

To be quite honest, I think it CAN get pretty hedonistic, but, I was
thinking about Simon with a twinge of sadness (I know I'm crazy).
He has it ALL at his fingertips...and is thinking about leaving the
show next year!!!

I see people like Donald Trump doing more, building up, etc., etc.

They have NO IDEA!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hell is YAWNING FOR MORE PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Luke 12
16 And he spake a parable unto them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully:

17 And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits?

18 And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods.

19 And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry.

20 But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided?

21 So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.

22 And he said unto his disciples, Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat; neither for the body, what ye shall put on.

23 The life is more than meat, and the body is more than raiment.

This Lee guy is so adorabable......but I think we will be outta here before they crown the new AI. I pray for Simon, he seems like a really decent guy but I doubt he knows the Lord. Yes, it appears that he has everything in the world, but the most important thing ever he lacks. I remember when Mandisa was on the show a few years ago. She definately showed the light of God in her response to Simon's criticism.

i so agree with you there...I will not watch her...the first time I had ever heard about her was during dancing with the stars and they had her on...I had closed caption on so I was able to read what she was singing...I was shocked.. I seriously sat there with my mouth opened........and then i know people who have kids at my sons school that let there little girls listen to her!!! I told one friend not to ever do that again and she had better pay attention to those lyrics....why is she so popular and why are they putting her on TV....

ps Dancing used to be a favorite of mine too but they have gone down hill...the first episodes were really fun to watch but now I couldn't care less..and no way would I let my son ever watch!!!

Re: Last (American Idol) song before Pentecost - HALLELUJAH

I love this song by Leonard Cohen. I really can relate to the idea that when we are cold, broken and feeling unworthy to even speak to God we should still praise His name anyway. As the song shows, not all cries of "Hallelujah" are spoken by those who are flooded with joy.
