I am retired Air Force and was stationed at Echterdingen Airfield from 1967 - 1968. I lived in Bldg S3247. I have a few scanned slides of the airfield and Army helicopters parked near the Quonset Huts. Wondered if you wanted any of these photos. |

Just a post about a recent visit to Germany with a group of old troopers of the 2ACR Association. It was called REFORGER 2026 Rusty Spur tour. We had a great time. We visited former sites that 2ACR guarded during the Cold War. We placed memorial plaques at several sites. MTF, John |

Hello, I\'m hoping someone here can help me. My father, Johnny Posey (SP4), served with HHB, 2nd Battalion, 83rd Field Artillery in Babenhausen, Germany from 1972-1975. He was a Redeye missile gunner and also served as a Custodial Agent for nuclear weapons in the battery. Sadly, Dad passed away recently from kidney cancer. I would love to connect with anyone who served with him or in the same unit during that time — both to hear memories of my dad, and because statements from fellow soldiers about the unit\'s nuclear mission and duties could help us understand and get closure. If you knew my dad or served with the 2/83rd FA in that era, I\'d be so grateful if you\'d comment or m email me. Thank you all for your service. |

Trying to track down the military history of SGT Otis E. Caler (HOR Centerville, ME) who served in Linz, Austria about 1951-52 as an MP. I am a Legion VSO who researches WWII stories for families wanting to find out what Dad or Granddad did in the \"Big One\". |

You could write something warm and specific like this: Hi, I’m researching my grandfather, Earl K. Stehlin, who served with U.S. Forces Austria in the early/mid-1950s. His records show service connected to USFA/G-2 and intelligence work in Austria, with time around Salzburg and other USFA locations before later assignments in Germany and the U.S. I’m trying to learn more about the units, daily life, and any personnel who may have served with or around him during that period. If anyone has station lists, photographs, stories, directories, or memories connected to USFA intelligence/security work in Austria, I would be very grateful to hear from you. Thank you for maintaining this history and for any leads you may be willing to share. Jamie Stehlin A slightly more casual version: Hi, I’m researching my grandfather, Earl K. Stehlin, who served with U.S. Forces Austria in the early/mid-1950s. His military records point to intelligence/security-related work with USFA, including connections to G-2 and service in Austria before later Army intelligence assignments. I’d love to connect with anyone who remembers him, served in USFA during that time, or has photos, directories, station lists, or stories from the Austria period. I’m especially interested in Salzburg, Vienna, Linz, and any USFA intelligence/security offices or detachments. Thank you for preserving this history. Any leads would mean a lot. Jamie Stehlin |
