Three Counties XC instructions - Event 3 - Dunstable. 24th Nov.
Please see below the details regarding the first race. These are now on 3cxc Website
Here is a strava segment for the course as run in 2015.
It is a spike capable course, I have confirmation from Dunstable rep. However, it may not be so muddy in November compared to January. Personally I am leaning towards studs, but I will bring both studs and spikes on the day.
We need as many runners as possible to especially help with the overall competition. - we can win this!
This next race is very important for getting us back on target. We need to set it up so that we re-take the lead after winning our home race. What a great Christmas celebration that would be! The meal at Prezzo will be way more satisfying after hosting the XC so well, and producing a magnificent performance. However, we need a result at Dunstable to facilitate this.
Remember to bring your mug with you to get your post race brew. If you don't have one yet, there will be one waiting for you at the finish. They're great! See here if you don't believe me.
Please post below to arrange car shares.

Race parking for 203 cars is situated a short two minute walk away from the race HQ at the Central Bedfordshire Council Offices Car Park.
Access to the car parks is made via North Station Way.
We will have Marshall's on duty to assist you in finding a space.
We urge you all to try and lift/car share on the day.
In the event that the council car park becomes full, alternative on street parking can be found close to the HQ or at the race HQ but this can become very busy on most Sunday mornings with the local footballers using CPCFC HQ.
The Race HQ is a modern facility which offers us plenty of men's and ladies toilets and changing/ shower facilities.
Please be aware though that there are no toilet facilities at the start of the race.
Toilets and changing facilities will be sign indicated at Race HQ.
After the race, rolls, cake and hot drinks will be available in our marquee.
There will also be a pay bar available for those who require something stronger to drink.
Please note the race start is 10-15 minute walk (0.6 miles) from the Race HQ.
The course winds its way through the undulating countryside known locally as Green Lanes, Tottenhoe Knolls and the Maidenbower.
The 1 lap course of 4.6 miles is a mixture of bridalways and footpaths and are mostly grass with several short Stoney or gravel sections.
The course route is usually quite muddy in January. I have told them about this typo
The course map will be available on the day as well as on our website.
Please also be aware that whilst the course will be marshalled and the local community notified beforehand of the race, the general public will still have free access to this area on the day and the area is a popular spot with dog walkers, ramblers and horseriders.
Please remember as runners that we do not have exclusive use of this course on the day.
NOTE for the walk to the race start will be on normal footpath/road - please use appropriate footwear.
The route to the start will be clearly sign indicated.
I'll be there 😀
I'm in on his one
can some more men sign up please,
I'm feeling the pressure of being 1 of 6 in scoring team at the moment.
I cant run fast enough to score. I'm only there for cake and a cuppa.
You think you've got problems, Paul - there are no women signed up yet at all .....
I'll be there, and I'm hoping plenty of other ladies will be joining me - we definitely need more of our faster women out this time to bump up the score a bit!
I'll be driving from Hitchin - Christine, Lindsay, let me know if you want a lift. Anyone else going from Hitchin? I can take three passengers.
Looking forward to it!
I’ll be there too!
I'll be going, not that I'll make a difference to the score.
Linda, I'd love a lift please. Thanks.
Two spaces available in my car from Letchworth 😊
me please Miranda.
I can drive?
It's fine Paul, Ernie's chauffeuring, he wants to come and support. We can come and get you
TBC! Will let you know next Friday!
Sorry Miranda, found I was double booked so I shall not need a lift.
Thank you very much for the offer.
I'm in and I won't let anything get in the way of this one!
Really hoping I'll make this one :slightly_smiling_face:
Yes count me in.
Can I have a lift please. I am not coming to Run I am supporting this time.
I'll be there...not sure if I need a lift or not this time.
We're coming, not sure how many Harbons are coming but will keep posted about lift space - Dave W we can pick you up! Paul B - you not coming now? Scared?
Looking forward to it!
Ok Monica, I will text you about pickup :slightly_smiling_face:
We will be there. Karen will be running and Pete is hoping to!
Definitely running. Its a good course.
Great to see everyone getting ready for Sunday.
Team NHRR has seen 45 individual squirrels :chipmunk: turn out to the first 2 races, kudos to all. 15 have done both races, so extra kudos to those! I’m looking forward to seeing some season or lifetime debuts and more mugs get collected on Sunday. :+1: :coffee:
If you want to be included in the individual overall competitions then you need to do 4/5 races. I.e. if you missed one of the first 2, you are still OK. If you do 5 then you loose your worst score. However, don’t worry if you miss the overall, you can still help the team competitions.
My new rival, for this year, from Ampthill is not at this race, he’s racing else where (good luck :four_leaf_clover: to him) - so I’m looking forward to finding somebody else to chase.
I have a new tradition of pizza :pizza: on Saturday night before XC, so very much looking forward to that too. :yum:
Any space left in the car Miranda. I might as well do this one in prep for ours 😀
I will be there but will need a number. Thank you
I will have the numbers with me on Sunday. :white_check_mark:
i'll be there
Just a word about travelling there, the new road from the M1 (from the new Junction 11a) to the north side of Dunstable is now open as an alternative to driving along the A505.
I was going that way.
To avoid going through Luton town
Count me in. Would be good to share a lift from Letchworth (I can drive if anyone wants)
Lift Share would be good. Parking seems to be a bit of a nightmare at this one. I can meet at spirella if anyone can squeeze me in their car.
Need to be back at 1:30 though!! 🏃♂️🤓
Dave - l'll be at the spirella at 8:15
Great. See you there James.
