Some perspective on this year's London Marathon

A very good runner I know (Championship starter I think) posted the following statement on Facebook:

"This is what the heat did to everyone yesterday:
2017 3.09.44 overall position 3030
2018 3.09.37 overall position 1879"

I think the comparison of her finishing position from last year to this puts it into some perspective.

Re: Some perspective on this year's London Marathon

Another stat i saw doing the rounds:

Championship qualifying times run in London
2017
Men (sub 2hr 45) - 542
Women (sub 3hr 15) - 286

2018
Men - 272
Women - 155

So a big drop off at the fast end of the field, those further back would i assume be hit even harder by virtue of spending more time out in the hot conditions.

Well done all of you who ran, it was certainly a tough day for it
