Watford Half Marathon (Herts Vet County Champs) - 2-Feb-2020 - Cassiobury Park

Six squirrels headed west on Sunday for the Watford Half Marathon. Watford Harriers have been proudly hosting the iconic event for over 50 years. This was my debut half marathon in 2004 (1:45:34) so a special event for me personally. It's put on by runners for runners. Lots of enthusiastic marshals, locals come out to cheer along the way, occasion music blasting out en-route. Starting in Cassiobury Park, you are soon out into the rolling countryside. Great to see squirrels putting in great personal performances. Although just outside my PB I'm super happy to get 2nd V40 overall and V40-49 1/2 marathon Herts county champion :grinning:

Thanks to everyone at NHRR, particularly Richard for the lift!

Re: Press report for week ending 2 Feb

Three Squirrels headed to Sandy to run the RSPB Race for Wildlife 10K - Ian Sutcliffe, Andrew Porter & me. I haven’t seen any official results yet but on Strava I managed to run over 4 mins faster than last year in a time of 54:07. It was a real treat to run on an off-road multi- terrain course where we weren’t up to our knees in mud as has been the case with many runs this winter. A hilly but very scenic 2 loop course. I’ll send a photo.
