Update from the Leighton 10 Race Committee
Race Date - Sunday 20th September 2020
To all our running friends far & wide, we firstly send this update with sincere & heartfelt love & support to the entire running community during this unbelievable time. To the key workers amongst us we humbly applaud you, & as the saying goes, we know we'll meet again... we just need to keep breathing, taking one day, sometimes just one step, at a time, until that golden moment 😊.
Whilst in some ways the autumn feels a long way off, if we're lucky, with so many spring races rescheduled for September onwards, the racing calendar looks like it could be an absolute blinder. Lockdown training will certainly come in to it's own 😊.
In terms of our annual Leighton 10 race it goes without saying that we're still hoping to hold the event on Sunday 20th September...& as always we would be absolutely delighted if you & your fellow Club members could join us on the day...whether it be the main race you're training for, or as a pre- or post-marathon sharpener. As with many race organisers, we're keeping in contact with both UK Athletics & The National Trust for further guidance & support (The National Trust, as our new race HQ at Ascott House in Wing is a National Trust property), however for now we're continuing with our plans, our marshals are on standby, & our fingers are firmly crossed 😊.
If we could therefore ask you to pop the date in your diaries, help spread the word amongst your running clubs, even encouraging friends who have taken up running during this lockdown period, we'll then be in touch (likely to be in August) once we feel more confident in being able to open our online entries 😊.
One thing for certain though is that if we decide to hold the race as an 'elite only' field, you'll all be welcomed on the start line as the amazing field of runners who have continued to support our event for the past 39 years 😊.
Many thanks, & take care.
The Leighton 10 Race Committee 😊
