Run of the Month - 5 mile results submission here (21st - 28th)

The Run of the Month - June 5 mile is this week.

Please post your name and 5 mile TT times on this thread please.

You can do this as a time trial, or as a tempo, or even as an easy run if you wish.

Put some NHRR kit on and run 5 miles. :+1:

Please include a write up - if you wish.

Extra kudos for posting a link to Garmin/Strava activity.

And further kudos for uploading a picture to the activity of you in your vest and/or of your virtual MWL picnic ๐Ÿงบ

Re: Run of the Month - 5 mile results submission here (21st - 28th)

I did 5 miles as a time trial last night (same 400m back and forth course as the 10k). Managed it in 34:02. Clare had a sore ankle (but hopes to do this later in the week) so I had my own personal water station/cheering crowd ๐Ÿ˜€.

A few of us completed the 5M together last night. Myself, Ian Datlen, Kyle Stout and Darren Bonham.

We did a nice easy run and it took us 41:03. Really enjoyable.

Re: Run of the Month - 5 mile results submission here (21st - 28th)

I decided to run this this morning at 7:30 in the hope I would beat the heat. I ran it as part of a 6 mile heart rate threshold run (planned for 8, but my HR was in the threshold zone even jogging after 6 ๐Ÿฅต).

Time for the 5 miles was 31:38.

Re: Run of the Month - 5 mile results submission here (21st - 28th)

Well we went out early too, to beat the heat. Wasn’t intended as a threshold run but running up Wallington road in the heat 60% was in peak zone for me so above performance and Georgina was 78% in performance.

58:17 - Georgina stayed with me.

The photo attached to the run shows what looks like a necklace around the base of my neck. This is persperation (apparently we ladies don’t sweat) ๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿฅต

Re: Run of the Month - 5 mile results submission here (21st - 28th)

A very hot 5 miles for me yesterday and that was at 5:30am!

I set for a nice easy recovery 5 miles but I have to say if felt anything but that! Nevertheless, the morning was beautiful and lovely and peaceful at that time of day. 42:30 mins for me.

Re: Run of the Month - 5 mile results submission here (21st - 28th)

A post-sunset run for me around the Greenway to Willian.

Warm, but enjoyable. I took it nice and steady and felt strong in the last mile - a good sign!

Time was 38.00.

5 miles = 34:14

Ran solo at 0815 this morning, nice, cool and damp - probably best running conditions of the week.
Mash up of Grange rec reps and Croft/Cashio reps.

Unusual distance this for me. 8.06km.
Thanks for organising.

Re: Run of the Month - 5 mile results submission here (21st - 28th)

Re: Run of the Month - 5 mile results submission here (21st - 28th)

Thanks Team Captains for organising!

I decided to take on this 5 mile challenge yesterday evening on the infamous flat rectangular loop around Letchworth Corner Sports Club - no longer on a corner!

Think we reached peak BBQ last night, and it was very tempting to knock on some doors to ask if there were any spare bangers or burgers! However the cold beers in my fridge were calling to me throughout, turning what was supposed to be a nice gentle trot into an unplanned progression run. Got back to the fridge in 36:14.

Think this was my first 5 mile "race" for a decade, since Victoria Park in 2010!

Re: Run of the Month - 5 mile results submission here (21st - 28th)

Clare Hooley; 59 min 37 s.
Up and down a flat 400 m stretch of road on Saturday afternoon. I do usually go to the Hatfield November race over this distance and it’s not quite up to those times, but I did require two water stations here and make do with one in that race ๐Ÿ™‚; this was achieved with some cryptic hand singles at the other half, out for a faster easy run at the same time. Back home to a very appropriate buffet (bacon frazzles; the official purple group snack).

Re: Run of the Month - 5 mile results submission here (21st - 28th)

47.34 for me using the first 5 miles of my long run, which at 8.25M is not very long! Ran in the rain sticking to HR below 156 and thrilled that the allotment and garden were getting such a good watering:) 5M is my favourite race distance but after a hilly 5M at Chicksands, some 2M reps and a tempo workout this week there was no racing in my legs. Thanks to Nick for recording all the virtual results.

Re: Run of the Month - 5 mile results submission here (21st - 28th)

59:10 this evening for me, lovely evening for a run. Eton Mess cake made by Hannah to celebrate finishing in under an hour!

Re: Run of the Month - 5 mile results submission here (21st - 28th)

Completed MWL 2 in 41:45 on a humid evening

Re: Run of the Month - 5 mile results submission here (21st - 28th)

Completed my 5 mile virtual ROTM this morning - with 12 miles in my legs from yesterday's long run, and the first mile and a half of this one uphill into a strong wind, I was quite pleased to finish it in 44:59!

*I was going to post a photo of my post-run breakfast pancakes with yoghurt, berries and honey - but I appear to have eaten it all ...... :yum:

Re: Run of the Month - 5 mile results submission here (21st - 28th)

Done my 5 miles this morning just after 7am in Epping Forest. Starting from Loughton I did 5 miles staying on the main rides with a lap of Connaught Waters thrown in. The wildlife was breathtaking at times during this run. My time was 38.59 mins, link is below.

Re: Run of the Month - 5 mile results submission here (21st - 28th)

A lovely run this morning, slightly misjudged the distance to the meeting point, ended up doing a 2.5 mile warm up and this meant I had a 2.5 mile cool down run to look forward to.
I managed to do a reasonable time of 41:47. Pleased with this as it means I’m well on track for doing a sub 50 min 10k when we can return to racing.

Re: Run of the Month - 5 mile results submission here (21st - 28th)

Completed my 5 miles in 39:50, which is another PB for me. A mostly flat route up from Arlesey Rec, past the station and towards Stotfold, turning left at the Etonbury Acedemy and across the field towards Astwick, then doubling back along the same route to Arlesey Rec. Great to have Lucy, Dervla, Brian J, Kat and Dave B along too.

Managed 56.02. Longest run for ages.

Re: Run of the Month - 5 mile results submission here (21st - 28th)

Still injured, but really wanted to do this so took it real slow ๐Ÿ˜Š 48.59. Although hamstring was screaming, it was lovely and blustery over the fields. Might be on Strava somewhere if my Garmin ever decides to connect ๐Ÿ™„

Re: Run of the Month - 5 mile results submission here (21st - 28th)

Sunday 28 June

Ran from Letchworth down garden centre hill(as strava calls it) to Hitchin, round the Walsworth block and back up the hill with the wind behind fortunately. Another up hill of Bowershott near the end.

47:39 for me.

Re: Run of the Month - 5 mile results submission here (21st - 28th)

Did a few 5 miles this week for some reason. The quickest was Thurs morning, 41:56, which was 5k at tempo and the rest warming up or cooling down

Re: Run of the Month - 5 mile results submission here (21st - 28th)

A really fantastic 5 mile run around Letchworth this morning paced by my friend Becky. ๐Ÿƒ‍♀️๐Ÿƒ‍♀️
I had to work really hard and was very pleased with my time of 41 mins 41 seconds.

54.15 slow but enjoyable as I explored the blue and green lagoons for the first time + through the woods at Fairfield.

Re: Run of the Month - 5 mile results submission here (21st - 28th)

John Auld, 42:42

I had to do mine dead easy as I was exhausted on Thursday when I’d planned my TT. Garmin was complaining at me that I was doing too much at high aerobic HR. And suggested I needed some low aerobic work for recovery. I agreed! I actually had a few bad sessions this week, where I totally blew up, so think it was wise not to blast out my 5miles. I think this was a combination of a few hard weeks, and the heat this week. I was trying to get past the TT before resting up, but had to start early, half way through this week... It’s a shame, as I was looking forward to it. I’ll have to have a proper go in a few weeks.

I did however put a NHRR vest on and said good morning to a bunch of people including the farmers. So it was quite enjoyable. Think I helped spread a bit of NHRR charm. I cooked an Eggs Benedict afterwards, so was a good MWL picnic.

Thank you to everyone that took part. 33 participants so far! Well done everybody! :raised_hands:

It’s great reading the write ups... :grinning:

To give everybody chance to post, I’ll wait until Monday to publish the list of finishers. :+1:

Re: Run of the Month - 5 mile results submission here (21st - 28th)

Ran 15 miles today towards Preston and Whitwell taking in some of the Hitchin Hard Half course.

5 mile pick up at the end so I’ll use that as my ROTM 5 miler.

Possibly slightly aided by a few down hills I ran the last 5 miles in 32:50.

Lovely scenic run with a mixture of ups and downs thrown in for good measure.

Re: Run of the Month - 5 mile results submission here (21st - 28th)

A last minute decision to do the month deciding to go on a late evening gallop around the Baldock Rat Run. Finished the 5 miles in 40:15

Easy effort but a thoroughly enjoyable run which I completed in 42:27.

Well done to all.
