The Run of the Month - July 3km TT is this week.
It would have been the 3km relays in Fairlands Valley park on Thursday.
Please post your name and 3km TT times on this thread please.
You can do this as a time trial, or as a tempo, or even as an easy run if you wish.
Put some NHRR kit on and run 3km.
Please include a write up - if you wish.
Extra kudos for posting a link to Garmin/Strava activity.
And further kudos for uploading a picture to the activity of you in your vest.
James Dalton = 11:31
Thats a PB.... only because I haven't raced that distance before.
Nice and flat Cashio/Croft lane reps
if you are interested. Ignore where Strava says it was "easier than my usual effort". Not sure that is true.
Thanks John, Katie, Vince for organising.
A few did the ROTM together our results are:-
Ian Datlen 11:46
Rhia Botha 11:52
Darren Bonham 11:29
Kyle Stout 12:25
Check out my activity on Strava: https://strava.app.link/X8H8Ncy6j8
Strava link to mine, which has other 3 associated.
Raced for the first time last night for many months on the Croft cashio loop. Sadly went a tad too far 3.11km. I blame user error.
Anyway 13.04mins and chuffed to bits.
All on strava.
Picture with Instagram Dave.
New member alert, my first one of these!
Hopefully the rules allow a 3km time from within a 5kmTT.
First 3km: ~11:17
Middle 3km: ~11:08
Last 3km: ~10:57
Strava link: https://strava.app.link/E3vDL7zXk8
I look forward to doing a ROTM with you all when racing is allowed!!
I took the same approach as Wesley by incorporating my 3k ROTM within a 5k effort - a tempo run in my case.
The 5k was my entry in the 'virtual' Standard Chartered Great City Race, which some London-commuting squirrels will have done in previous years with their work colleagues. In normal times it's a huge 5k event on closed roads around the City of London, taking in St Paul's and the Guildhall. This year it was a lap and a bit of Icknield Way and Works Road. I must admit I missed the sponsored post-race drinks with colleagues on the magnificent lawns of the Honourable Artillery Company. Maybe next year.
After a few calculations I reckon my 3k time was 12.11.
Completed the ROTM in Stevenage in a time of 15:54 on a very warm day so pleased with that
John Auld, 10:48
Me and the vest headed out this morning for 3km on the road instead of my usual off road tempo. I wasn't quite full blast, but was a decent effort.
I've started using 0.4km splits for the shorter time trails. I find it quite useful to pace to a lap of the track - you get much better feedback rather than waiting for the full km split, or worse a mile split. And I find it easier to set a target pace.
I used the usual Clothall Common loop, in Baldock. I like the 3km route as you can miss out the little hill on the second lap if you start right at the top of it.
Just before I started I witnessed a cat getting bullied by a black bird. I thought the cat must be close to the nest, but the blackbird was actually chasing it down the street! And then they got into a little tussle. :open_mouth: All the time the cat was trying to avoid a conflict.
Nice work everybody! :raised_hands:
Keep them coming in. :+1:
Please also send your pictures to email@example.com we would really like to see your efforts
Garmin seems to be seriously down so no Strava for the moment, but did the ROTM around cashio triangle today, just starting up as a group finished fortunately!
That's much much more kind of distance, 12s per km faster than my best 5k!
18:48 with the beautiful purple gang, somewhere cowslip hill, long road to the closed P.O., down hill and along to finish near outdoor closed swimming pool. Thanks to the awesome Monica.
I did the ROTM this evening. My time was 26:55.
Garmin also down so no Strava at the moment either. 3k effort tonight on still achy legs from Tuesdays 16 x200m (thanks Dickie).
time 12.50 so happy with that.
I did my 3k run tonight!
Legs felt very tired after a very busy day at work but feel so good to do it!
My time was 14mins!
Did my 3k in 13:01. Well pleased with this. Legs really ache after Tuesdays speed training session but I managed a respectable time.
No strava yet due to Garmin outage 😕
I ran the Cashio/Croft loop with Richard W, Anna, Dervla, Andrew C & Kat G.
A photo has been uploaded to Instagram.
I ran the 3K on Thursday evening and my time was 13:20, which I was very pleased with as my legs were quite tired from overdoing it a bit this week (I blame Joe Wicks!)
I ran the Cashio Lane/Croft loop with Lucy, Dervla, Andrew, Anna, and Richard. It was quite a humid evening but luckily we did have some refreshing rain at one point.
Not on strava yet (Garmin outage etc etc)
Photo is on Instagram already (thanks Dave!)
I ran with Dervla, Kat, Anna, Lucy and Richard on the Croft/Cashio lane loop
My time was 12.53
I ran my 3k ROTM yesterday morning (23rd), partly on my usual fragrant 5k route, taking in the Bury Mead tip and the sewage works. I finished in 15:34 and found it hard work after quite a hard training week (Joe Wicks and Mr Harbon have a lot to answer for.) Garmin pinged and uploaded data to Garmin Express then - nothing
It wasn't me, honest ...... :scream:
Completed my ROTM last night as part of thle Purple session led by Monica. After dispairing of ever being able to download the data from my Garmin watch, my son calmly linked it to my laptop, I amazingly remembered by Strava login and finally there it was. Elapsed time 21.30
Completed mine in 13:40. Route was the Croft Lane, Cashio Lane, Norton Road loop. Ran with Dave B, Dervla, Kat, Anna & Lucy.
I ran the 3K route with Andrew, Kat, Richard, Lucy and Anna...my time was 13.23....pleased with that. Photo on insta :)
Ran the Cashio Lane & Croft Lane loop with Andrew, Dervla, Kat, Lucy & Richard. On Strava & photo on Instagram. 😃
Ran 3.15k in 15 mins 38 seconds.
Struggled a bit but pleased to have given it a go and enjoyed the social run & drinks in the garden afterwards!
I ran my usual out and back along the Bedford Road north of Ickleford this morning. 11:07 for me. Nothing on Strava yet - waiting for Garmin to come back online.
11:11 for me, pleased with the time after a good honest effort. I was aiming for sub 11 but lost it in the 2nd K, fitness and course selection needs improving 😄. Bumped into Pete during the warm up, always nice to catch up with fellow squirrels 🐿.
Thanks for arranging all.
Done lunchtime sat so can we go for a hot and humid excuse? Seriously, though neither of us thought these were too shabby, although we definitely picked our favourite nice flat bit of training road (up and down a 400 m section).
James Keogh: 11:30
Clare Hooley: 20:09

16.24 for me as part of a 24min fartlek portion of a 55 min run split as 30s fast, 90s steady. Needless to say I went off too fast and slowed over the 12 repeats:( Thanks to John and Katie for organising.
I did my 3km on Tuesday. Pleased with my time of 12:30mins, felt in control and steady with more in the tank too. So overall feeling great 👍
Here is my link and wore my club vest with an obligatory picture too!
Thank you for organising.
I did the ROTM this evening with the Purple Group led my Monica.
My time with Strava was 20.4.
Managed 18.53 around Croft Lane and Casio Lane loop.
I timed my 3k as a middle section of a 7k run yesterday 25 July. The 3k part was an out and back section of the Greenway from Willian which is a pleasant area to run. My time was 17:16 for 3.15k.
Thank you for organising. It adds a bit of variety and purpose to running and has at least perfected my strava skills using my Samsung watch! Haha
Long road back day 1, 1 mile warm up 3km TT mile cool down. 12:17 3km for me.
I have done mine but it is on my watch, garmin is dead, can't work out where it is on my watch and for some reason my laptop won't recognise my watch when I plug it in...I know it wasn't very fast though!
Bit of a late entry but ran a 10min 44second 3KM. Strava link https://strava.app.link/eq1hYuyDr8
My legs went off a little quicker than the rest of me around Clothall Common but I caught them up and slowed them down a bit during km 2 managing to complete the 3k in 13:23
As I can only manage about 3k at the moment I was pleased to be able to join in with something. 17.35 for me. slower than I would like but happy to be running.
3k in 20m 4s and in the pouring rain. Not quick but enjoyed it as just imagined I was swimming in the wet instead of running (not quick at swimming either haha!)
Photo to follow. Doesn’t do justice to how soaked I was but notice the SUMMER NHRR top as I thought it was going to be sunny.
I ran 10:37 for 3K on Thursday evening as part of a virtual relay 2 mile leg. Only just been able to trim the run down now due to Garmin problems. Link is below.
Hi John & Katie,

Hi, just done my 3km. Not on Strava yet... my time a respectable 14:01.
In fact, I was going to post my quickest 3km from my 8km run on Saturday but decided last minute to go and have a go at a quick 3 instead, so on a full stomach and a day of driving a desk, I went out, found a good pace down Highfield, Improved it all along Hitchin Road and held that to the end at the bottom of Gernon Road. Admittedly a slightly downhill course, but I am pleased with that effort.
18.04 mins for a distance of 3.04 Km.
